I can only speak for myself on
this one. I use surgical gloves to protect my hands.

Surgical gloves are what motor
mechanics use, so I use them also. Dish washing gloves do not allow
the same dexterity when handling small parts.

Cat and Dog litter
Ever tried to shovel cat or dog
litter off the lawn, then try the method below. Not for the queasy
stomach ones though.
A plastic carry bag serves me well.
Single use and touch wood never had a problem so far. Put your hand
inside and grab the offending substance then with the other turn
the bag inside out. The litter is now inside waiting to be disposed
of.
